Accessing LDC Data

Create an Account

The key to data access is your user account. There are three types of accounts: guest, organization user and administrator. Organization users and administrators can license and download data from within their LDC account. For additional details, visit User Accounts.

Search the Catalog

Once your account is created, it’s time to search for the data you need. LDC’s Catalog contains over 950 resources in more than 90 languages. Users can refine their search across multiple fields that include languages, DCMI Types, recommended applications, and data sources.

Download Data

LDC’s e-commerce system simplifies the path to data access. Your data is ready for download once you have selected your corpus, placed it in your cart, digitally signed any applicable license agreements, checked out, and received notification that the data has been “shipped.” For step by step instructions, visit Online Transactions.

Licensing

All LDC data are subject to some user license agreement that may vary depending on user status (e.g., members and nonmembers) and data content. LDC’s standard distribution terms allow use for language-related education, research and technology development. Specific licensing options are detailed on the Obtaining Data page.

Membership

The easiest way to access data is to become an LDC member. Membership offers organizations unparalleled data rights, privileges, and discounts. Visit Membership Benefits to learn more.
