Travel to LDC

Travel by Airplane

Arrive at Philadelphia International Airport and take cab, airport shuttle or regional rail line into Philadelphia. Cabs are available 24 hours a day. There is a flat rate of $20 for a cab from the Airport to center city destinations in Phildelphia. Be sure to tell the driver that you want the flat rate. Airport shuttles to 36th and Market Streets should cost about $10.00. The cab or shuttle should leave you at 36th and Market Street. Continue with "Finding the LDC" below.

You can also take Septa's R1 High Speed Line from the airport to 30th Street Station. The fare is $5.00 one way. If you take the R1 train, exit at Amtrak's 30th Street Station in Philadelphia and continue with the directions for "Travel by Train" below.

Travel by Train

Arrive at Amtrak's 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. LDC is 6 city blocks (approximately .6 mile) west of the station. To walk (~15 minutes), exit the station on the 30th Street side and continue west along Market Street until 36th. Cab fare from the station to LDC should be about $4.00. Travel by Car

From the Northeast: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to exit 4 for Route 73 North. Proceed on Route 73 North to I-295 South. From I-295 South, take exit 26 of I-76 West. Cross over to Philadelphia via the Walt Whitman Bridge. This section of I-76 is also called the Schuylkill Expressway. Take exit 40 for South Street, and turn left (west) onto South Street to enter campus. Note: Exit 40 is a LEFT LANE EXIT. Continue west on South Street until 33rd Street. Turn right (north) onto 33rd Street and continue north to Market Street. Turn left (west) onto Market Street and continue to 36th Street. Continue with "Finding the LDC" below.

From the Northwest: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 24, Valley Forge Interchange. Take I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) approximately 17 miles to Exit 40, South Street, which EXITS ON THE LEFT. Turn right (west) onto South Street to enter the campus. Continue west on South Street until 33rd Street. Turn right (north) onto 33rd Street and continue north to Market Street. Turn left (west) onto Market Street and continue to 36th Street. From the North: Take I-95 South to I-676 Westbound toward Center City. From I-676 exit in less than two miles taking "exit only" ramp towards the airport marked I-76 East. Proceed less than a mile to Exit 40, South Street, which EXITS ON THE LEFT. Continue west on South Street until 33rd Street. Turn right (north) onto 33rd Street and continue north to Market Street. Turn left (west) onto Market Street and continue to 36th Street. Continue with "Finding the LDC" below.

From the South: Take I-95 North to Exit 13 signed "291 West to I-76". Follow 291 West across the Platt Bridge (the Sunoco refinery to the left) and turn left at 26th Street (which continues as 291) which leads to an underpass which bears left onto I-76 West. Take I-76 West 3 miles to Exit 346A, South Street, which EXITS ON THE LEFT. Turn left (west) onto South Street to enter the campus. Continue west on South Street until 33rd Street (just past Franklin Football Field). Turn right (north) onto 33rd Street and continue north to Market Street. Turn left (west) onto Market Street and continue to 36th Street. Continue with "Finding the LDC" below.

Parking Near LDC

You can park in the lot on 36th and Market or use metered on-street parking. The lot has entrances on 36th Street north of Market and also on Market Street west of our building. The lot charges a flat rate of $11.00 a day, $2.75 for the first ½ hour and $2.75 for each ½ hour there after. If you decide to use metered, on-street parking, note that the rate is 25 cents for 15 minutes, the maximum time allowed is typically two hours and the municipal employees who check the meters are extremely efficient.

Finding the LDC

The Linguistic Data Consortium is located at 3600 Market Street, on the Southwest corner of 36th and Market Streets. 3600 is an eight story building on the corner, above Nosh's deli. Enter the lobby from Market Street and take the elevator to the 8th floor. Follow the signs for Suite 810 to the LDC.
