User License Agreement for Korean Treebank Annotations Version 2.0

Application by an Organization to use Korean Treebank Annotations Version 2.0 (LDC2006T09) distributed by the Linguistic Data Consortium (LDC)

____________________________________________________________ (“User”), an organization engaging in language education, research and/or technology development, agrees to use the text data designated as Korean Treebank Annotations Version 2.0 (the “Data”) and distributed by the LDC subject to the following understandings, terms and conditions.

1. Permitted uses

1.1. The Data may only be used for linguistic education, research and technology development, including but not limited to information retrieval, document understanding, machine translation or speech recognition.

1.2. User shall not publish, retransmit, display, redistribute or reproduce the Data, except that: (a) summaries, analyses and interpretations of the linguistic properties of the Data may be derived and published provided it is not possible to reconstruct the Data from such summaries; and (b) small excerpts of the Data may be displayed to others or published in a scientific or technical context, solely for the purpose of describing the research and development and related issues or demonstrating the systems under development.

2. Copyright Notice and Disclaimer

2.1. Portions of the Data contained in Korean Treebank Annotations Version 2.0 are the property of CoGenTex, Inc., Korean Press Agency and the University of Pennsylvania and are protected by copyright. In no event shall User publish, retransmit, display, redistribute, commercially exploit or otherwise reproduce any or all of the corpus in any format to anyone, except as allowed under the terms of this agreement in Section 1.

2.3. USER ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT KOREAN TREEBANK ANNOTATIONS VERSION 2.0 IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS-IS” BASIS AND THAT LDC, ITS HOST INSTITUTION THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, AND COGENTEX, INC. MAKE NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR CONFORMITY WITH WHATEVER DOCUMENTATION IS PROVIDED. IN NO EVENT SHALL LDC, ITS HOST INSTITUTION, OR COGENTEX, INC. BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DAMAGES, LOSSES, COSTS, CHARGES, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, FEES OR EXPENSES OF ANY NATURE OR KIND ARISING IN ANY WAY FROM THE FURNISHING OF, OR USER’S USE OF, KOREAN TREEBANK ANNOTATIONS VERSION 2.0.

User shall send a signed copy of this agreement by facsimile to LDC, fax number (+1) 215 573-2175. Alternately, User shall email an electronic version of the signed agreement to LDC at ldc@ldc.upenn.edu.
